I am a beach baby even when I get a weekend off between shoots I pack my bag and head to Goa. But when I have some more time on me I take the next flight on Mauritius.
The beaches are clean and much more peaceful. The blue water and white sand is all you need to clear your mind off the stress of the city, but Mauritius is so much more than that.
Food in Mauritius is a mix of Indian, Chinese, Creole and European. They have many popular fast food joints like Pizza Huts too so there’s something for everyone.
Packing for Mauritius is easy as you don’t need to stuff your bags with too many clothes. The weather is just like Mumbai so summer wear and beach wear is all you need. Even if you don’t carry many clothes, there are plenty is shopping outlets to buy some stylish clothes.
Even when you go there during winters a couple of jackets are all you need as it never gets too cold.
Shopping in Mauritius is not very different from Goa. You will find the usual junk jewellery along with real gems that too at a great price.
Although Mauritius is not a place to buy big brands you have to pick a Billabong swimwear. Billabong is originally an American brand but they even manufacture it in Mauritius but this is still original Billabong and not a cheap imitation.
Mauritius is also perfect for water sports, especially in Blue Bay. You can try out surfing, sailing or the most popular, snorkel.
Best time to go there is in winters, from mid September to mid December. The summers are too hot and sometimes they also experience cyclones in summer.
